The two-part curriculum (below) will be paired with a powerful documentary that will accompany the girls as they progress through our program. This documentary, centered on resilience, tells the story of a young person who has endured various forms of abuse within the home—physical abuse and sexual abuse. Unlike a Hollywood narrative with a fairytale ending, this is a real, raw account of survival, resilience, and the ongoing effort to heal and move forward in the face of trauma. It is the story of individuals who have faced unimaginable challenges, yet continue to fight for a future beyond the abuse they endured—an experience that, unfortunately, far too many children and young adults are still subjected to today.

In 2021, the most recent year for which U.S. government statistics are available, 3,016,000 children were involved in a child welfare agency response, with an estimated 600,000 victims of maltreatment. This documentary sheds light on the harsh realities that so many children face, offering an inspiring narrative of hope and perseverance.

                                     Mentoring

We offer one-on-one mentoring services to a child with a visionary leader who is a survivor of sexual exploitation or someone who has experienced incest. Our goal is to connect individuals with necessary resources by assessing their unique needs and ensuring that any gaps in support are addressed. This personalized approach is essential, as we recognize the importance of having a relatable figure in a youths life.

                                  Who do we serve?

• Youth between the ages of 13-21 who have experienced incest or sexual exploitation.
• Youth who are Involved with the child welfare system, or youth residing at home or in residential programs, group homes, foster care, juvenile detention centers, and psychiatric units.
• Counties we serve include
• Wake County 
• Durham County 

                   We also offer virtual options to ensure accessibility.

• Groups

• Part 1"Threads of Strength: A Healing Journey Through Fashion and Creativity" is a transformative, trauma-informed curriculum designed for youth who have experienced sexual exploitation and familial abuse. This program uses the empowering tools of fashion, creativity, and sewing to help participants reclaim their identities, rebuild their self-worth, and foster healing. Through a series of five engaging and therapeutic sessions, participants will explore the connections between trauma, self-expression, and the body, all while developing practical sewing skills.

• Part 2 "Threads Of Strength: Sewing for Healing and Empowerment:
• This 10-session curriculum is designed for youth who have experienced sexual exploitation, empowering them through the creative process of fashion and sewing. Participants will reclaim their identity and self-worth through designing and creating their own clothing pieces, culminating in a fashion show that celebrates their personal growth, healing, and empowerment. This trauma-informed curriculum is designed to create a safe and supportive space, allowing youth to express themselves and heal through art and self-expression. Each session includes therapeutic tools, discussions, and sewing activities that focus on personal resilience, body positivity, and empowerment.

• Fitness Classes Youth will be led by a certified personal fitness trainer. These classes aim to help youth release the emotional trauma through physical activity. The objective is to assist  youth with healthy tools to support their physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Sessions are available in both individual and group formats.

• Nutritional Classes youth will meet with a Certified Nutritional Coach to understand the connection between trauma and eating disorders. This will include visits to local grocery stores and farmers' markets to learn shopping techniques. Both individual and group sessions will be available.
